A lot of students want to jump right into writing but there is a lot of prep work that goes into creating a good story. I have my students plot or map out their stories before they begin writing. They need to have an idea of what is going to happen to avoid sudden plot twists and events that drag on and don't make sense. Having a plan before you write, will not only make the writing piece go quicker and your work will have a much better story to tell.
